*TLDR means: Too Long, Didn't Read
TLDR ~ DO.. NOT.. BUY.. ISK…  It is against the EVE Online Terms of Service.  That includes isk bought from sites linked in my Google Ad bars. (I looked into trying to block them, not possible)
Long Version ~ You no doubt will see the in-game rookie help channel flooded with spam regarding the buying of ISK.
DO NOT buy ISK (or items) from these web sites.  It is against the CPP Terms of Service.  It's likely CPP will simply take it all away; and anything you bought with it!
However, it is possible to buy ISK.  But the proper CPP sanctioned method to buying ISK, is a two step process that involves:
1) Buying Eve Time Cards.
2) Exchanging the time card for ISK.

You can read more about how to properly Buy ISK here.

TLDR ~ If you can, please link to this site from your personal web site(s), and/or with social networking account(s).  (FaceBook, Twitter, etc)
Long Version ~ The primary factor that Google and other search engines use to determine if a site is any good, is by how many people link to it.
By linking to my site from your personal web site(s) or social networking account(s), you are helping make this information available to other novice players.
You can use one of the links found in the 'Social Linkbox' that I have placed on most pages. (they look like this) Bookmark and Share

Or, if you are adding a link onto a website that you own,
please use the following html code.

Ombey 2D PDF Map: This is the recommended map to start with; and the one I refer to most often.
I recommend that you print it out (in color), and put into a three ring binder.
And keep the PDF file itself handy (to search for systems by name)

EVE Java Map: An Interactive EVE Map program written in Java.

The four features that set it apart from the in-game map are:
» Visual categorization of systems by asteroid belt count.
» Jump Drive route planning (best feature IMO, and although available elsewhere in other forms.  It is not available in any other map that I know of)
Visual categorization of null sec systems by…
» "True Security" (affects the size of rats)
» Sovereignty (Helps avoid trespassing. Or assist it. Either way, its handy =P).

The first feature is the only one useful outside of null sec.  So if you are in high sec, stick with with the Ombey and in-game map for a while.

Some features lacking from the Java map available with the in-game map.
» Visual pilot population indications.
» Visual categorization of systems by number of ship losses.  (handy if you are traveling into low sec)
» Drop down menus listing info regarding orbital bodies in the system: planets, moons, stations, and their corps, and their agents.

EVE Sovereignty Map: This is useful if you are thinking of applying for a null sec corp, and want to "put a face to the name".

Once you are familiar with all four of these maps, you will find that you won't be using any one of them exclusively (sometimes consulting them in tandem).
Lets say you need quick refresher glances, every 30 seconds while traveling in low sec.  Nothing beats a good old-fashion paper map.
Want to know good place to mine?  Check the Java map for high sec systems with lots of belts, and zero stations.  Then compare this against population levels with the in-game map.
No single map does it all.  Use the right tool for the right job.
